The Maine North Woods

The Maine North Woods comprise over 3.5 million acres (60% greater than Yellowstone) of forestland, lakes and rivers.  While these lands are privately owned by several large timber companies who continuously harvest spruce, fir, hardwood and other commercial timber, it is through tradition and support by these companies that the Maine North Woods is a favorite destination for outdoor enthusias

Why Maine?

A Short Story by Arthur Gray Staples.

Arthur was born in Bowdoinham in 1861.

During his career, he was the city editor of the Bath Daily Times and Lewiston Journal.

He died in 1940.
